That's what some people say when they talk about living here! The Central Coast of California is one of the nicest places in this country to live. Why? Well, I'd love to tell you!
First of all, it's the weather! We have lots of sunshine and blue skies! Our cold weather is usually a bit colder than what you would experience in So Cal and our warm days are sometimes a bit hotter than So Cal, but we have clean air and very little humidity. Come see what I mean.
Paso Robles is located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, so if you occasionally yearn for what the big city has to offer, it's only 3 - 3 1/2 hours to those locations. Our most local airport is in San Luis Obispo and is only 20 minutes from there to Paso Robles. (Actually, Paso does have an airport, but only private charters are currently available). The SLO airport can get you to Las Vegas, San Francisco, LA , or a number of other destinations in an hour or less. We also have Amtrak. It comes right through San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles with stops in both locations. The train can be a great way to come see us!
Tourists love to come here. For many of them, it's all about the Wine! This is Wine Country! Come and visit just a few of our over 150 wineries and you'll see why this is such a popular spot. And the beach towns of Avila, Shell Beach, Morro Bay, Cayucos and Cambria are only 15 - 30 minutes away. Each place has a personality of it's own. You can visit Cambria for the day and tour through the beautiful antique and specialty shops and still drive to Hearst Castle, one of the most popular State Parks visited in this Country! Truly fascinating and worth your time!
But it's really all about the people! Those who live here are very grateful to be a part of each of the special communities in this county. They care very much about the future of this area and are working hard to make sure that each town retains it's special charm, historic buildings, creeks, and vistas. And if we hae a chance to meet in the future, I'd love to share some of the special changes that will will be taking place here in the near future.
Just take a walk along the park in downtown Paso Robles. You'll find a relaxed group of people who love being here and are glad to share this place with newcomers. Meeting people is pretty much a part of the culture here.
There's so much more to say about living here. The lakes, the bike tours, the trail riding and horse activities. But I want you to visit the websites I've listed here which will give you more details on your particular interests. I will continue to update these sites so you have the best information possible. There's something here for everyone!
